A plan's capacity is not one number: it moves between cycles, and a month also holds resets. This page shows the trend of capacity and the month with its resets, observed on one owner's accounts as of October 29, 2026.

Codex's limit now holds more than half less than in August
On our accounts a week of the Codex Pro ×20 limit holds about $1.2k of work today, and in August it held about $2.5k. Claude Max ×20 for the same price holds about $2.6k and is not falling so far. Codex often resets the limit early, which in practice adds a good deal of work, but you do not know when it will happen.

What a week of the limit holds, month by month, one plan size at a time
The typical week of the limit in a month (the median of its cycles), over the whole history, for plans of the same size side by side on one scale; plans of one size cost about the same, so they compare directly. Without early resets: what you can count on. Hollow dot: a month with a single week of measurement; a break in a line: a month with none.

What does "work priced at API rates" mean? It is the amount you would pay for the same requests if you bought them one by one at the API price list. It measures the size of the limit; it is not a bill. "At least": some of the traffic has no catalogue price or is not visible on this machine, so the true value may be higher. These are observations on one owner's accounts, not provider announcements.
How the capacity of each plan moved, cycle by cycle: what one dollar buys across every plan, then each plan on its own scale, then the numbers.
What one dollar buys
Horizontal: the calendar, the same for every plan. Vertical: API-eq per $1 paid for the plan, so every plan of every provider is on one scale. Each faint dot is one weekly cycle (hollow: a lower bound; ×2: a promotion cycle, left out of the line); the line is the median of the last four cycles, and the labels mark the steps detected.
Free plans have no price, so they are left out of this chart; they are listed under the panels below.
Each plan on its own scale
Last 2 months, the same window for every plan; the full history is in the chart above. Each panel shows API-eq per 100% of the 7-day window on its own vertical scale: the dots are the cycles, the line the median of the last four, the pale band their lowest to highest, a cross a window left out at a plan change. Plans with fewer than four cycles in the window are listed below the panels.

Numbers
Capacity = API-eq value of 100% of the 7-day window (USD). Last cycle: the newest finished cycle, with its date and pp. Then the median of the cycles of each period, their lowest and highest, and n. ≥ marks a lower bound; faint = one or two cycles.

1
Median of the period, with its range
Each cell is the median of the weekly cycles of the period, under it the lowest and the highest and n, the number of cycles. A median alone hides jumps such as 1 000, 1 500, 2 000 and 3 000 in the same month, which is why the charts above draw every cycle.
2
Same dates in every column
Periods are counted back from the date of the data, for every plan. Compare plans within a column, never along a row: plans were measured in different months.
3
Faint and ≥
One or two cycles are readings, not a median, so they are faint. ≥ marks a lower bound: some traffic had no catalogue price. Promotion cycles and short fragments at a plan change are left out everywhere.
2
Month by month, with resets

1
The plan on its own
What the subscription gives without any extra reset: the weekly windows on their usual schedule, valued at that cycle's value of one window. The ongoing cycle is left out until it ends. Windows a plan change opened are counted apart, in a lighter shade.
2
Added by resets (hatched)
What the bonus resets added: each one ended a window early, so the next one came that much sooner. A reset three days before the usual date adds 3/7 of a window.
3
Banked (violet)
Banked resets granted in the cycle, one whole window each, whether you use them in it or later. Grants are read from 2 September; before that the cell says no data.

Capacity is API-eq at the cycle's stored point value; one window is worth the capacity divided by the windows of the cycle. The parts follow how the app classified each window: the plan on its own is the scheduled weekly windows, a plan change the fresh windows an upgrade or a downgrade opened, resets what the bonus resets added; only finished cycles of the current plan are shown. Banked is the banked resets granted in the cycle, one window each, counted in the cycle that granted them; ≥ marks a cycle whose readings start after it began. Resets include single and unconfirmed ones. Cycles shorter than a month (a plan change, the start of a measurement) are marked partial; a cycle shorter than a day is not drawn.
